My husband and I were thrilled to learn we were expecting our second child. Nine months was so far away, but we were so excited we immediately began tossing names around. We had a boy's name picked out still from our first pregnancy, so we started looking for girl's names. Sarah, Mackenzie, and Madison were a few I liked; Mike liked Ramona. Needless to say none of them were right so it was back to the drawing board.
Our first child, a daughter was born three years before and was named after my mother, Elaine, who had passed away years earlier. I loved the fact she was sharing her name with the mother I loved so much. Elaine is such a classic and rare name. We decided that is what we wanted for our newest baby, something with meaning for us and something special. That is where the name Hannah came in.
Hannah was my maternal grandmother's name. I had always liked the name, and it met all our standards. It was rare, and special, just like my grandmother and just like our newest little angel! My second daughter arrived August 7th, 2001 and was officially named Hannah Lenore Fortier.
It gives me such pleasure knowing my girls are carrying on a part of my family, and that they are both named after such strong caring women. Now they not only have their guardian angels with them, but they are named after them!
