Karalei ~ a combination of family names. Kara is Danish or Greek meaning dearest. Lee is English for light-footed.
I named my daughter Karalei (Kara-Lee.) It is a version of my mother's first and middle name - Carolyn Lee. I was able to tell my mom I was pregnant the day before she died of breast cancer; all she wanted was a "grandbaby". I wanted to honor her by naming my daughter after her.
We thought of Carolei, but knew her name would be shortened to Carol and we didn't like that very well. We did like the name Kara, so that is how we came up with Karalei.
