The story of how my husband and I picked our daughter's name is probably one of the most unique stories that you'll receive. My daughter is actually named after our horse, Chimes. Before you think that I'm nuts, I'd better give you some background on this.
We have a show horse, and his name is Knights Wind Chimes. Before I was pregnant, a group of my girlfriends from the barn were having lunch and the topic came up about who wanted to have children. I said that I couldn't wait to have a child, in fact, we were getting ready to start trying. Everyone became really excited and we started discussing names. I told them if we had a little boy that we would probably use my husband's name and if it were a girl, we'd like to have the middle name of Elizabeth in honor of both of our grandmothers.
I asked if they had any suggestions as to what the first name should/could be. One of the women, Cindy, who is a real fire cracker chimed in and said that since I'm always at the barn with my horse, I should name a girl after my horse. I told her that I just didn't think that I could label my daughter with the name of Knights Wind Chimes. She laughed at me and said, "What about the breed?" It became a big joke at the barn.
A couple of weeks later I was going through some old paperwork and I found a list of baby girl names that I had written years ago for an older cousin when she was expecting. Among all of the names was one that jumped right off the page . . . "Morgan." I looked at my husband and said, "What about Morgan Elizabeth?" and the rest is history.
She is the most precious little girl, we are so blessed to have her. I just hope one day that she'll get a kick out of how her name came to pass.
