Combination of two names
My husband was set on "Rebel Lynn" after I mentioned that I was reading a book with a character named Rebel. He wouldn't budge, but I had concerns about the stigma of a school aged girl having to answer to "Rebel" as well as job interviews, etc.
After writing an e-mail to an aunt and realizing I had typed "Revel" instead of "Rebel" it hit me. That was the perfect compromise! We loved the sound of "Rebel Lynn" but I had major concerns about it. "Revel" would eliminate my concerns and "Rebel" would be a natural nickname for her daddy to revert to.
We talked about "Revel Lynn" but decided it wouldn't have the same appeal when she was known simply as "Revel". So we decided on "Revellyn". Meredith was a name we had discussed early in the pregnancy and decided it rang well with Revellyn. So now we hope that Miss Revellyn Meredith will like her name as much as we do.
