Shai ~ Hebrew for gift or present
My name is Miriam and I live in Israel. My husband and I have been trying to conceive a child for over 7 years, I have had many
failed IVF attempts.
Both my husband and I always wanted to adopt a child. So, in September 2001 we started adoption procedures here in Israel.
We continued with fertility treatments and by May 2002 I hit rock-bottom after another failed IVF. I was so crushed from the hormonal and
emotional roller-coaster of the trying to conceive journey, I couldn't even look at other people's babies anymore without crying..
Well, June 12th 2002 we got a call from our social worker. She found a little boy for us, 7 1/2 months old.. We took him home with us June 19th 2002 and he's the light of our lives. We named him Shai, which is Hebrew for gift or present. Our Shai is now two years old and living up to his name. He's a joy.
Shai's adoption was finalized on the 18th of November 2003, and we found out a week later that he'll have a little brother or sister next summer. We became pregnant after IVF number 7.
