My husband and I are both big hockey fans. After searching many baby books and coming up with no girls' names we could both agree on, we started to explore last names of hockey players.
One stood out . . . Sykora, after Petr Sykora of the Anaheim Mighty Ducks.
We had our name!
Although we met with opposition from my mother-in-law, she quickly warmed up to the name when everyone else loved it.
