The Five Lost Aunts of Harriet Bean
by Alexander McCall Smith

Reviewed by S. Spangler, age 8

Synopsis:
Harriet didn't have a clue she had aunts until her father said, "Your aunts would like to hear about that!" She was astonished. She asked him where they were, and he explained that when they were kids, they lived on a farm and the soil was thin and the animals were too. His parents didn't have any money so they couldn't keep the family together any longer. His sisters went to live with cousins and he went to live with their grandparents and never saw his sisters again. His story made Harriet determined to find them and so she started the search.

Opinion:
I think everyone who cares about family, likes funny stories or enjoys happy stories will like this book. This book is all of these things. It took me two days to read it and I didn't have any trouble with any of the vocabulary.

My Rating:
Out of a possible 5 Stars = Stars!

Recommended for children ages 9-12
