The Daddy's Promise
by Shirley Jump

Ever wanted to just pick a place, pack up and start fresh? In The Daddy's Promise (available June 2004), by Shirley Jump, that's exactly what Anita Ricardo planned to do when she took her former boss' advice and moved to Mercy, Indiana. Little did she know that her past would have such a dramatic impact on her present!

When widower Luke Dole and his twelve year old daughter Emily moved back home with his parents, he did so to regroup. The death of his wife, the failure of the California software business that he was running with Mark his twin, and life was taking a toll on him. There was only one thing that had given him a spark before he left California, but he'd been too preoccupied to let it ignite. When Anita and Luke come face to face in Mercy, it's nothing short of pure fireworks!

As we've become accustomed, The Daddy's Promise delivers a heavy dose of humor mixed in with a plot rich with substance: unstable emotions, a realistic picture of parenthood, a glimpse of the various types of childhoods that can be experienced, and a heavy dose of romance and sizzle all mixed in with hormones. The chemistry between the characters is almost palpable. But not just between Luke and Anita, but between Anita and Emily and Katie and Anita too. Family is big for the Doles and Shirley Jump makes you almost want to beg to be adopted.

The Daddy's Promise is Ms. Jump's third book in the Dole family series, but with one remaining bachelor in the Dole clan, Nate's story will become available in print late summer of 2005. Look for Shirley Jump's first single title release in September 2004, by Kensington Books: The Bride Wore Chocolate. The title alone makes you want to know more, doesn't it? To be sure, Ms. Jump will deliver the answer in her own delightful, humorous way that will just leave you craving more of the same.
