This 45 minute yoga workout, Sara Holliday's Prenatal Yoga - First Trimester, is specifically designed for women in their first 12 weeks of pregnancy. The instructor, Sara Holliday, is also in her first trimester and works through the postures and poses along with the viewer. She is also an expert in prenatal and postnatal exercise designed to help women safely stay in shape during and after their pregnancies. According to Holliday, "The many benefits yoga can provide an expecting mother . . . include increased strength and flexibility, increased muscle tone, breathing exercises, stress relief, less pain and in many cases, an easier labor."
Make no mistake, this is a real workout. It's slow, gentle, and relaxing, but you'll break a sweat. I did this workout with my friend who is in her first trimester (I'm not pregnant). It was wonderfully relaxing for both of us, and my friend intends to do the workout often through her 12th week. Sara provides a great deal of instruction so even someone new to yoga can do this workout. She includes modification instructions throughout the workout as well as a separate chapter with modifications. The workout runs about 45 minutes but despite the slow pace, the time flies. You'll be surprised when it's over. My friend felt her pregnancy nerves had floated away, and she was left feeling centered and calm.
A fit body and mind is invaluable during pregnancy. Sara Holliday helps newly expectant moms achieve this goal with her Prenatal Yoga - First Trimester workout. You'll soon be able to continue Sara's program throughout your pregnancy with the soon-to-be released workouts for the second and third trimesters. We can't wait!
The DVD sells for $12.99 and is available from fitbysara.com
