Pushing
30, Whitney Gaskell's comic and heartfelt debut novel, infuses
humor, warmth, and lots of laughs into the tale of one modern-day
woman as she navigates the everyday obstacles of leaving her twenties
behind.
Gaskell's
heroine is Ellie Winters, the consummate "good girl"--loyal,
dependable, mails out her holiday cards right after Thanksgiving,
and always takes off her makeup before bed. But now as the 'big
3-0' looms on the horizon, Ellie's beginning to wonder why she played
by the rules all these years. She has a boring boyfriend, has a
job she loathes, and is the solo standing single in her circle of
friends. Feeling like she's lost the instruction manual to her life,
Ellie sets off with her trusted and ever present pug, Sally, for
a comforting late-night walk, and literally runs into DC's sexiest
TV anchorman. Could he be the catalyst to light the spark in Ellie's
hum-drum life?
With
a smart heroine readers will love to cheer for, Whitney Gaskell
proves herself as a delightful new voice with her first novel, Pushing
30.
