1

Get out the glitter, pom poms, crayons, markers and foam shapes and start making and addressing holiday cards.

2

Snowflakes, anyone? Who can make the best snowflakes? Have a contest and hang all of the entries around the house. CD/DVD coasters work great with glitter glue!

3

Select a name from a tree around the neighborhood (library, post office, super market) to surprise with a holiday gift.

4

Go browsing at the stores for your holiday gift donation. Bring it home and wrap it (if you need to) and get it ready for delivery.

5

Pop real popcorn the old-fashioned way and string it for the tree.

6

Decorate the house and the tree - while listening to Christmas music!

7

Pick a favorite holiday movie and watch it in the evening by the lights from the tree.

8

Catch a local performance of a holiday favorite like The Nutcracker.

9

Have each family member select their favorite holiday song, and everyone memorize the words.

10

Family game night! Play Scrabble using only holiday words.

11

Make custom-made wrapping paper using butcher block paper and imagination.

12

Pack a large thermos of apple cider and go ice skating for the afternoon.

13

Make ornaments as Christmas gifts. Get creative! Use nuts, plain glass ornaments, wooden shapes, etc. for family, friends and teachers.

14

Decorate gift bags with stamps, colored ink markers and stickers.

15

Gather the children and some of their friends to bake and exchange holiday cookies for a nice assortment.

16

Wrap gifts using your homemade specialties!

17

Visit a nursing home or hospital to share holiday cheer.

18

If weather cooperates, plan a snowball fight, build a snowman, or make snow angels. No snow? If you live by a beach, make sand angels! Paint pictures of snow angels . . .

19

Crank the holiday music and make cleaning for the holidays a family event.

20

Gather family and friends for an early holiday party. Serve hot cocoa, holiday punch, cider, eggnog, and your holiday cookies as treats. Send guests home with their holiday cookies.

21

Read The Polar Express, then watch the movie.

22

Select a favorite holiday DVD.

23

Bake cookies for Santa!

24

Leave those cookies and milk out for Santa and his reindeer! Before going to sleep, snuggle in and read The Night Before Christmas.

25

The Wait is OVER! Spend part of the day at a shelter helping distribute meals.
