Junk to Gems - Clothespins

Our Junk to Gems topic focuses on household "junk" that can be used in new ways. This time we're asking:

What can you do with clothespins? We're talking about both the old-fashioned kind, and the newer kind with the spring, wooden or plastic.

Here are some clothespin ideas from our members:

Memo Holders!
From gloria ~ the ones with the springs, it is a great project for kids to do for grandma for Mother's Day, Valentine's Day (for anyone), or any occasion for anyone with a fridge. See what we made with Gloria's idea here in May's Project of the Month

Reindeer!
From Miche ~ Clothespin reindeer! I made these for the Heart of the Home Ornament Exchange.

From gloria ~ the old fashion ones [can be] made into a reindeer brooch.

Butterflies!
From Caryl ~ Make these watercolor butterflies

Activity!
From Caryl ~ Have a toddler try dropping clothespins into the top of an empty gallon milk jug, or poke holes the cups of an egg carton, and have them stick the clothespins in those.

If you have any more ideas to share for what to do with clothespins, please email our moderators. If you include a photo, we may be able to post it on this page! Don't forget our Kitchen Accessories and Butterfly crafts.

Enjoy!
