Cynthia FlynnTylenol 3 Use During Pregnancy
by Cynthia Flynn, CNM, Ph.D.

Q. I have had horrible migraines since becoming pregnant. Finally, they got so bad I called my doctor, and she prescribed tylenol 3. I took one last night and now I'm scared. Is tylenol 3 safe during pregnancy?

A. Tylenol 3 is a narcotic, so you wouldn't want to use more than necessary. Used in small doses, it is very effective at solving your problem without much documented harm to the baby.

Until the end of pregnancy, I usually suggestion acetaminophen with a Mountain Dew for headaches. When they don't work, T3 can be a useful option.

Hope you feel better soon!
