Walking and Dilation
By Lisa Stone, ACE

Lisa Stone, ACEQ. How many miles and how long does it take for walking to help with dilation? I've been walking only a 1/2 hour almost every day. Should I be going longer? I am 38 weeks along and only a fingertip dilated.

A. The baby will come when it's ready to come! While walking and staying active may help speed up the process, that baby has a mind of its own. Just walk as much as feels comfortable. If you feel painful pressure in your groin area, then it's time to stop.

Hang in there!
