Yellow Discharge in First Trimester
by Nancy Sullivan, CNM, MS, FACNM

Nancy SullivanQ. I am 6 weeks pregnant and am having bright yellow discharge (no odor). Should I be alarmed?

A. I would not be alarmed, but I would ask your midwife/doctor to check and make sure that you don't have a vaginal infection which is causing this discharge. Women do have an increased amount of discharge in pregnancy, but it should be clear or white, nonmalodorous, and not itchy.
