Beverly Pressey, MS, RD
Having a love for food and a concern for children, Beverly started her career in Nutrition by cooking at a Seattle child care center and a kitchen catering to child care centers. Currently she is in her 8th year as the Nutritionist for the Infant-Parent Lab at Bellevue Community College and her 5rd year at the Jewish Community Center's Parenting Center. Previously as the staff Dietitian for the Seattle-King County Health Department, she visited child care centers in greater Seattle, consulting with center staff and parents. She has also provided individual nutrition counseling privately as well as in conjunction with the Sea Mar Medical Center; Women, Infants and Children’s Program (WIC), and several family doctors.
Beverly is an experienced teacher and speaker having presented at many conferences. She has also been adjunct faculty at taught at Bastyr University, North Seattle Community College, and taught classes designed for the Puget Consumer Cooperative, Seattle Conservation Corp. Numerous parenting groups and child care centers have invited her to teach their parents or staff. After 13 years of practice she has observed thousands of children eating in different environments and enjoying a wide variety of foods. This has given her a realistic understanding of infant/child eating patterns and behaviors. She has also had opportunities to hear the personal and emotional frustrations some parents experience around food and meal time issues.
Beverly’s new book Simple and Savvy Strategies for Creating Healthy Eaters is now available at her website www.creatinghealthyeaters.com. Use Simple and Savvy Strategies for Creating Healthy Eaters as a guidebook, a reference manual, and a shared experience between two parents. The information is priceless and the instructions are coming from a friend who’s been in the trenches of family feeding. Beverly will show you that raising children with healthy emotional relationships with food can be fun and simpler than expected.
Beverly has a Master’s degree in Nutrition from Bastyr University and a Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration from the Ohio State University. She is also a Registered Dietitcian. Visit her at www.creatinghealthyeaters.com.
