Week 17
~ Little Kicks

My exciting news for the week is, last Wednesday I felt the baby kick. I was so excited. I can't wait until my husband and kids can feel the baby too. I felt more little kicks and movement throughout the week, but of course not as much as I would like. Later that evening my husband and I took my kids and my three nephews to watch the lunar eclipse up on a hill. They were even able to see Saturn through a telescope. They thought that was pretty cool. We had an eventful day, however the highlight was feeling the baby kick. Whoever would of thought that being kicked would be better than watching an eclipse?

On Thursday I had a doctor's appointment. My doctor's office was busy that day, so I made the most of it and read a magazine while I waited. That isn't something I get to do very often. Of course, I was by myself which made it a little bit easier. When my doctor came into my room he apologized for my wait, but I really didn't mind. He is such a good doctor and I am so glad he will be delivering my baby. He asked me how I was doing and all the normal questions and then he tried to get my baby's heartbeat. Tried being the key word. Apparently, my sweet little baby doesn't like to stay still. I told the doctor that my baby was just practicing keeping up with his or her brothers and sisters. However, my doctor was determined, so he asked the nurse to grab the ultrasound machine. I didn't mind because that meant I would be able to get a quick glimpse of my baby. The baby looked amazing and I was able to hear one of the most beautiful sounds in the world; the sound of my baby's heart beating.

The rest of my week went pretty well, except I get really tired in the afternoon and my son Dominic was sick. I hate it when my kids are sick, especially when they are little. My little man had a fever that wouldn't go away and he was completely miserable. He lost his appetite, which is usually great, and was exhausted. He was sick for 4 days, but he now he is much better. I am very thankful God always gives me the energy I need to take care of my kids even when I'm exhausted myself.

I have also been trying to take a little better care of myself this week. I have been getting dehydrated because I don't stop what I'm doing to drink water continuously throughout the day. Instead, I drink a ton of water all at once and go 6 or more hours without drinking anything else. I know it's not the best for my baby or myself and makes me very tired. I have also started walking with my brother which I am very excited about. I know I will have more energy if I exercise and take care of myself. Well, that's about it for this week.

Until next time,
~ Barbara
