I want to introduce you all to Victoria Faith!! Let me start from the beginning. I went to the doctor on Wednesday, January 7, because I half hoped that I had progressed. He checked me and I had not so I went home to rest. On Friday morning, January 9, I was feeling pressure and pain so I began timing my contractions at 2am. By 4:30 am they were about 5 minutes apart and pretty steady so we called the doc who told us to come in so I could be checked. By 7:30 am they sent me home because I was only at a 2 and not progressing. They assured me that I would be back by that night but I was so upset I didn't listen. We once again went home and my husband was less than thrilled to have to go through the entire day without sleep. Men are such babies. Anyway, my contractions continued throughout the day and by 5pm that night I was beginning to suffer through some of the contractions but I was determined not to get sent home without a baby in my arms.
At 8pm my mom came to my house to see how I was feeling and she said we were going to get a baby soon. I was beginning to believe her since I was now unable to walk through a contraction or speak. At 10pm, my husband called the doctor and we once again made the journey to the hospital. When we arrived I was in so much pain as the contractions were coming every 2 minutes and were severe. When they checked me I was at a 5!! Yay!
We were admitted and they immediately gave me some pain meds to take the edge off. In about a half hour they brought the epidural and I was feeling great, a little out of it but no pain. At 2am the nurse checked me and I was ready to push. I was so groggy from the medication I just remember telling her to let me know when I was having a contraction as I could not feel them. Three pushes later, on January 10, Victoria Faith made her appearance into the world weighing 8 lbs 1.5 oz and being 20 1/2 inches long. I got to hold her right away and she looked right into my eyes. It was the most precious feeling.
They wheeled me out to surgery while they took Faith to the nursery to be examined. I had a rather lengthy recovery as we waited for the epidural to wear off but once we were settled in our room she nursed like a pro! She has such a sweet disposition already and is doing very well. Her big sisters were very excited to meet her! It is definitely an adjustment with three but after a couple weeks we will get the hang of it! We were able to go home on Monday the 12th and we have been resting and I've been recovering nicely.
I want to thank each one of you for reading my birth story and I wish all of you healthy and happy pregnancies and deliveries.
