Bridget's Pregnancy Journal

Weeks 25 & 26 ~ December 15, 2002
~ Crazy Time of Year!

Somehow, I've gotten behind in my journal entries. I had ambitious plans to do two separate entries but I just couldn't get it together. I hope you don't mindů It's been a fairly uneventful past two weeks anyway. My life has been busy but the pregnancy has been uneventful, which is good.

It's a week before Christmas and I still have so much shopping to do for family. I'm done with Maddie's shopping. I still need some stocking stuffers for her, Ally and Tom. I'm hosting our mother's group Christmas party tomorrow morning and I'm a little stressed out about that. Ten mothers and a dozen little people under the age of three! Wish me luck!! I took Maddie grocery shopping with me and ended up forgetting half of the items on my list. And I even had a list! It was just too close to her naptime and she wasn't in the mood to shop. I had to carry her part of the way AND push the cart.

Tom's been very busy with work lately working a lot of extra hours. On the weekends, he's been putzing around in our basement finishing up his workbench. What is it about men and basements? Geesh! He could be down there for days. He's got an enormous honey-do list to tackle while he's off between Christmas and New Year's so I thought it would be a good idea if he finished off the bench first. He's quite proud of his big, sturdy, manly workbench.

I'm getting bigger. I'm no longer comfortable sleeping on my back, which is a big bummer because that's how I like to fall asleep. In fact, I'm no longer comfortable in a lot of positions. It doesn't seem to matter how many pillows I have either. The worst part is rolling over! Ugh! I have to wake myself up to flip sides. I compare it to trying to lift a whale out of water. Where are those heavy-duty cranes when you need them?

There's another thing that's just driving me batty and that's the nasal congestion that goes along with being pregnant. I know I've whined about this before but it seems to be getting worse. Especially at night! I cannot wait to be able to breathe through my nose again. Tom was trying to give me a kiss yesterday and I had to pull away to breathe. I tried to explain to him that when we kissed it was like holding my breath since I can't breathe through my nose. He didn't like it much, but I think at least, he understood.

Another funny observation - Now that I'm obviously pregnant now (yeah, there's no question about that!) I had a lot more tummy-touchers when I was pregnant with Maddie and living in Arizona. I had strangers wanting to touch my tummy all the time! I don't think I've had one stranger pat my tummy. New Englanders have a reputation for being cool. I just think they're more reserved.

So, I'm headed back to the store to pick up the items I forgot the first time. On second thought, I think a nap sounds like a better idea. ;)
