~ Call Your Mom!
This week was a little tough for me. On Saturday, August 1st, it was the tenth anniversary of my mom's death. I had just graduated from high school and was getting ready to move up to Seattle to start college in September, when my mom passed away suddenly one afternoon while fishing with my dad. She was in great health, but apparently just a glitch in her heart caused cardiac arrythmia and she was gone instantly. It was a major shock for the entire family and needless to say, my first year of college was really tough.
Now, you would think with time that it would get easier, but in a way, I don't think it ever does. It's times like these I wish I could call my mom and ask about her pregnancies with my brother and I. If you've ever lost your mom, you would understand that only moms can tell you the kind of information you want to know; dads just don't remember or don't quite get it like moms do! So, if your mom is still around, give her a call and ask all those important questions!
On another note, I think I may be feeling the baby move! We had an appointment with my midwife on Tuesday and after taking the heartbeat of the baby, pumping strong at 130, (we were hoping to find out the sex of the baby but didn't) she asked if I felt any movement yet. I hadn't but what do you know; the next day, I started to get these odd sensations. To me, it feels like dropping fast on a roller coaster or quick squeezes. I also am feeling it about two inches above my belly button and deep within. It's been happening nearly every day, but only during the day and mostly after I eat. At this point, I'm not sure if I'm feeling the baby or if my stomach and esophagus are just gassy. We'll see how next week goes!
