~ The Big Event, Take Two!
So far, our trip back home has been wonderful! We are staying at my dad's house and I decided to get in some half marathon training runs and went out and did my old running route near his house. You wouldn't believe how cooler temperatures and low humidity make such a huge difference on my running ability! It's a very hilly run so I ended up walking the uphills (3 of them) and then running all of the rest. I felt better and had a faster time than my usual flat, full running in Florida. Baby Finley did just fine too, no cramps or soreness during or after the runs! Also, it was just this week that I realized that I can feel my stomach and know exactly where the baby is by how "hard" it feels! It's fun to know where she is in there. Mike still hasn't felt her kick but he was excited when I had him feel the "hard spot" and since then, we've been feeling for her every day!
Last weekend was busy but this week was even busier. Our family started arriving from out of town for our second wedding and we had a million little things to do before Saturday, September 19th. I tried on my dress on Wednesday and sure enough it still fit! That was quite a relief! I don't know what I would have done if I'd grown too much in two weeks and it didn't fit!
On Friday night, Mike and I gotten hotel rooms for all of the wedding party to stay overnight so that we could all get up together in the morning and get ready for the big event. We girls went to bed pretty early since we had to be up at 5:45am to get our hair done! We got back to the hotel around 10:30 and all got into our dresses. We met the boys in the hallway and then jumped in our white, stretch, Hummer limo which drove us from Portland to Cascade Locks (about an hour drive) for our big event! Everyone coming to the wedding knew our story about already being married and then me being 6 months pregnant, but I still think I kind of shocked some people when I got out of the limo with Mike and there was me with my big ol' belly! Our vows renewal and reception was a 3-hour cruise aboard an authentic paddle-wheel riverboat, the Sternwheeler on the Columbia River. I'd have to say that one of the most memorable moments of the celebration was seeing my dad all dressed up in his tuxedo and also when our preacher said to Mike he could now kiss his bride again and kissed me and then knelt down and kissed my belly! I think that brought a few tears to those in the crowd!
We have some great pictures from the event and it was one of the most memorable weekends of my life! We were glad to have had the chance to share in the special day with our family and friends.
