Week 37
~ Getting Ready?!
Can't believe it's week 37. Can't believe it's October! Can't believe I'm still sitting home waiting for the baby <g>. Well, I've enjoyed this first week off from work and think that I'm actually doing better. My blood pressure was great at the doctor's appointment Wednesday. I am ashamed to admit that I was secretly hoping that the blood pressure was still high and the doctor would want to induce ASAP. This is what happened when I was pregnant with my first child. He was induced the day after my 37th week appointment because of my blood pressure.
I'm still having the contractions and am cramping. In fact, I was in incredible pain at the doctor's office. It irritates me greatly when all he says is that my body is getting ready. The cramping has reached a new level. They're much more painful and intense. They no longer feel like mild menstrual cramps. I feel them in my back as well.
I was hoping that the examination would indicate some great dilation. Huh! Nope! Doctor says that I have begun to "thin out," and I have begun to dilate. Only a little though. Just about a "fingertip." He did feel the baby's head. I guess I should be happy because this is some progress, but it wasn't what I wanted to hear. I must've really looked upset because he hugged me and apologized for my disappointment. He told me not to worry though. It will be any time now, and when it does begin to happen, it will happen quickly.
Oh well, it's just a waiting game now. I KNOW the baby is coming. I mean, the baby will be born. Just hoping when I see the doctor next week, there'll be more encouraging news.
