Week 10 ~ December 26, 2006
~ It's Finally Official!
Well this was a fun week. We had our first ob appointment. Pretty much a routine visit, we did have an ultrasound and saw the baby. He's already looking quite baby-like. We saw his little arms, legs, hands, and feet. His face was even quite distinct looking. I call the baby "he" but I have no idea what gender this baby is. Sometimes I get the feeling it's a girl, but then I kind of have this gut instinct that says, "No, it's a boy." So who knows; we completely don't care what we get as long as it is healthy and happy. A girl would be great, because I definitely want a daughter eventually, but having another boy would be a lot of fun too. We're planning on finding out the gender during the next ultrasound, which I think will be scheduled around week 20. Our due date was exactly what we had been thinking, July 18th.
We finally shared the news with our families on Christmas day. We gave each of our parents a baby picture frame, and on the inside it said, "Picture to follow sometime around July 18th, 2007. Congrats on being grandparents once again!". Tim's parents figured it out right away and were so excited. My mom however, stared at it for about five minutes and I finally had to ask her if she figured it out. Apparently, she was just looking at the frame, and not reading the text that was under the glass. She was really surprised when she figured it out. I think she thought we'd be waiting a lot longer before we had another one. We just explained to her that we were up for it whenever it happened, and it happened pretty much as soon as we started trying. I think a lot of people have the reaction of, "What! You're having another one!" like it's some crazy thing that we're going to have two kids, a two year old and a newborn. But I refuse to think of it that way. I just think we're bringing a new baby into the world, the baby will be wonderful and a huge blessing in our lives, what's not to love about that? Sure our house will be a little crazy from time to time, but whose life isn't a little crazy? And, after all that, at the end of the day you have two great kids that you adore, so that's my positive thinking on the whole scenario. I'll just ignore the people that think we're getting in a little over our heads!
Our Christmas was a lot of fun. Ryan had a great time opening his gifts and playing with all his new toys. We had a great time with our families, but it is nice to have it all over with. We can get back to our normal routines without all the holiday stress! This week has also brought very few pregnancy symptoms. I'm experiencing less nausea and I'm still tired, but I've been able to fit in some naps, so that's been helpful. I realized I've lost 6 pounds in the last two weeks. I guess the smaller meals and no desserts have really made a difference. Hopefully I'll start gaining it back now that the baby should really start to grow. I'm excited to have a pregnant belly so I can look pregnant and not just feel pregnant.
