Week 38 ~ July 12, 2007
~ Not Too Optimistic
Well this week has been pretty good, not a whole lot of pregnancy complaints. I'm sleeping better for some reason, and really the only thing that is bothersome is the very frequent trips to the bathroom. The pressure on my bladder is unreal, some nights I'm getting up 3 or 4 times.
I finally had my OB check this morning and I was only dilated to 1cm. My doctor wasn't too optimistic that I'd be delivering anytime soon. He said he was pretty sure I'd make it to my next week appointment, which is scheduled for my due date. So, I'm just still playing the waiting game. He said that since this is my first VBAC they'd like to treat me like a first time mom and not induce unless absolutely necessary. I definitely don't like the idea of being induced, but I can see how it would get tempting if you're a few days past your due date. He said they'd let me go to about 41 weeks and then we'd need to probably discuss either induction or a repeat C-section. I really hate the idea of either of those. I just want her to come on her own and have a nice, easy, safe delivery. I'm hoping I don't make it to the 41 week discussion. What's also scary is to think if she goes past the 41 week mark, I get worried that she'd be a big baby to deliver. I'd prefer a nice average to small baby since this is supposed to be a VBAC. If she goes that far I'd be tempted to opt for the repeat C-section. I think I just need to be patient and take it one day at a time, all the different scenarios are just confusing me!
