I went in for my week 37 check assuming that there would be nothing exciting to report and I was pleasantly surprised when the doctor said I was 1cm dilated and 50% effaced! It felt pretty good knowing that something was happening to slowly start this labor process. At 37 weeks with both previous pregnancies there was nothing going on. So, that made our week a little more exciting knowing that things could happen at any time. I also know that you can be 1cm dilated for an entire month without labor starting, but hey at least I've only got 9 more centimeters to go! I'm still feeling a ton of pressure from this little girl. Night time is getting a little more uncomfortable as my bladder seems to be even more squished at this point. I'm definitely waddling around rather than walking at this point.
Work has been busy again so it's a little stressful at the end of the day when I'm trying to get home to the kids yet not leave my desk a complete mess just in case I don't make it back the next day. I know none of that will matter once Lyla arrives, my coworkers will understand and pick up where I left off, but it's just that control issue that I want everything finished up before I leave.
I had a great Mother's Day; Tim made me a delicious breakfast in bed of potato pancakes, bacon, and cinnamon rolls. What pregnant girl wouldn't love that? I spent most of the day relaxing and I did get some much needed chores done around the house. My mom and I splurged for pedicures so now I have really cute toes for the delivery room. Tim made me a great lunch and then we went to our favorite pizza place for dinner. It was nice to not have to cook the entire day! The only downside was our refrigerator died on us that evening so we were in panic mode trying to get all our perishables put into our garage refrigerator. The next day the repair guy came out and $350 later we have a working fridge again. Not really what I wanted to spend $350 on, but it had to be done. Thankfully we're all set for Lyla to arrive, so we don't have any other baby expenses at the moment.
Now we're just on alert for when this little one is going to make her grand entrance . . . this week I think we're going to try and help get things moving along if we can. I've heard raspberry tea and long walks are a good way to start, so we'll see!
