Week 7
~ What Can I Eat?

Iím finding it hard to eat lately. My energy has been a bit lower than usual, and it seems that I donít want anything to eat in the house. I did go to Safeway, and I bought a nice loaf of crusty white French bread (I hardly ever eat white bread) which was so good with butter and havarti cheese on it. Also mashed-up avocado. I'm still eating lots of grapes and oranges. But I can't stand anything too garlicky or pungent, and Iíve been off my cup of morning tea, as well. I've been trying my best to make breakfast a priority when I have to work, so that I don't start to feel nauseous from hunger. My portion size has been smaller, which is fine, I just eat more often.

It's a bit weird being at work at the restaurant and not telling anybody about the pregnancy. I'm waiting to tell people because, like most workplaces, especially restaurants, it's a gossip-farm. I don't want the manager or the owner to find out before I tell them, so I can't really tell anybody yet. I know that the manager is really trying to get pregnant, and she had a miscarriage last year. Also the owner really wanted to have children, but I think she found out that she's infertile, judging by some of the comments she's made in the past. She jokes around that they're opening a new restaurant on the other side of town because they couldn't have kids, so the new place is her husband's (the chef's) "baby". So Iím nervous to tell them, because I know how hard it is to hear that someone you know is pregnant when you really want to be. So far, after about four or five months I can tell that they both really like me, but Iíve seen them treat other staff members unfairly in the past, especially women, and I don't want that to happen to me because I like it there, and it's a lot of fun. (Not to mention the food's really great.) So I think I'll wait as long as I can to tell them, and then just explain that we wanted to wait until the first trimester was over.

So we've told almost everyone else, except for my grandmas. My Granma was on vacation in Mexico, so I wanted to wait to tell her when she got back. I asked my Mum not to tell any other family members except my brother, because my family's terrible at keeping secrets, and I know that someone would leak or hint to her. My Grandma is pretty sick recovering from cancer and surgery, and she might have to go back into the hospital for complications, so I should really get on it and call her. I think they'll both be excited, my Mum hit the roof! She's so excited to be a Nana, and she will be so awesome. Babies and kids just love her, she is a magnet for them.

Well, that's all for now, I'm off to see what I can scrounge up for a snack.
