What a great week! I'm eating more foods that I couldn't eat for so long. There are still some things that I do not like. We used to get Chinese food often at a place near our house and now just talking about it makes me feel nauseous. Friday night we went out to Moe's and got these huge burritos. They are about as wide and tall as my hand! John's burrito disappeared within minutes. I was able to eat half. I think that was good considering the size and how packed it was.
I'm still tired a lot. Around 8 o'clock every night it's really hard to keep my eyes open. When I go to bed I am up every few hours. I have to switch sides because my legs or arms will go to sleep. I guess its good practice for all the waking up I will do when the baby is here!
Saturday morning I woke up at 3 o'clock in the morning and could not go back to sleep no matter how hard I tried. After lying in bed for about an hour I decided I was just too hungry. So I quietly crept downstairs and had a bowl of Coco Puffs. I watched TV and tried to fall back asleep on the couch but it wasn't possible. Around 6 o'clock John came downstairs in search of his babies and we were awake for the day.
A day of shopping!
At my birthday dinner last year we went out with John's dad and his dad's girlfriend, Annette, to Chili's. At some point Dad mentioned that he wanted some grandchildren and when I became pregnant he would buy my whole maternity wardrobe! (We had had some drinks . . . but I'm not sure if that is connected in any way to the vowed generosity). When we found out I was pregnant, we jokingly reminded Dad of his promise.
He is a man of his word!
John managed to coax Dad into all of us going shopping together. Before going to the mall, we met at Chili's for lunch (oddly enough the place where the promise was made). At the mall we shopped around at the department stores but didn't find much selection. We went to the maternity store and found all sorts of clothes! The ladies working there were very helpful. Every time I picked out clothes to try on they would take them for me and put them in "My" dressing room. I tried on the clothes and embarrassingly enough modeled them for Dad, Annette, John and all the other people in the store! I'll admit it was actually pretty fun. I walked out of the store wearing new jeans with a stretchy belly attached, a cute striped shirt that says Baby, and a heavy bag full of clothes that John had to carry for the rest of the day. I was totally spoiled!!
We were exhausted after walking so much all over the mall. After giving Grandpa a big hug for all his gifts, and a hug to Annette for all her help picking out clothes, John and I went home and relaxed.
It's weird that this Friday is my 23rd birthday. Just a year ago we were at Chili's talking about babies. Now I'm actually pregnant! When people ask me what I want for my birthday, I honestly can't think of anything. I have the greatest gift already - our little wiggle worm inside of me.
