Whew, I can take a long deep breath. We went to our first ultrasound and saw our baby's heartbeat. It was at a nice steady 167 BPM. The baby was measuring at 8weeks 3days instead of 8weeks 2days which puts our EDD on Christmas Day. Although, since I have diabetes, I wouldn't be surprised if they decide to induce early again. I have kept my diabetes in very tight control since finding out I was pregnant, so I'm really hoping I won't have to induce, but that is still quite a ways off.
Aside from the heat, which is not a friend to us pregnant women, the pregnancy has been going great. My blood pressure has remained normal (thanks to the Labetalol) and my Diabetes has been under great control (thanks to diet and Glyburide).
I met with my OB this week and she wants me to start seeing the Diabetes specialist as soon as possible. That means I have to track my entire food intake and my numbers and email them weekly so they can monitor any trends in my numbers. When I first had to do this with my last pregnancy, I thought this was dumb, like I need a babysitter. Okay, I admit, it can be annoying but I have already been doing this on my own since Week 4 and it truly does help me see where/when my numbers begin to fluctuate and I just keep telling myself the specialists are only here to help. So I will begin seeing them next week.
