This week started off with another visit to the midwife. We were able to meet another midwife we had not yet seen before, and she was just as nice as all of the others. I think there is only one more we have not met with yet. Our little one was moving around well, so much so that the midwife commented on playing a little game of chase. Baby's heart rate was in the 130s, and with movement up to the 150s. My blood pressure has been nice and low with this pregnancy, more so than the other pregnancies. Not that I have had trouble with excessively high blood pressure in the past, but it has been even lower than before. She did say that there was a slight elevation in my white blood cell count from the urine test, and recommended taking something like vitamin C to help boost my immune system. I will start taking some, just to be safe. I love how easy going they are here.
My younger sister also went along with us to the appointment, the one who just got married at the beginning of January. They just found out they are expecting, so I invited her to go along so that she could see how things are run at the birthing center. It will be interesting to see if she ends up going that route or not. She is 12 years younger than me, so I never really thought we would be pregnant at the same time. .
I did ask the midwife about the varicose veins too, and she did say that it is something fairly common in pregnancy. Some of the things she suggested was to take Bilberry or Cayenne capsules to help with circulation. She said some people have good results with it, and others do not notice any changes. She also mentioned that there is a support hose that is specifically made for this purpose that can be purchased. I am all for trying the capsules first, and since we already have the Cayenne, I think that is where I will start. The idea of wearing the support hose does not appeal to me at this particular time. .
The weather at the beginning of this week was gorgeous here. The temperatures were in the 50s and 60s and it was so nice to let everyone get out and run off some energy. I am afraid that a few days later it all turned to lots of wind and rain though. It was only mostly depressing, but I guess I will take what I can get. .
I hope you all have a great week!
