Week 24 ~ May 2, 2002
We made our first major purchase of baby gear - the crib and dresser!
Last Friday night, I had a Pampered Chef show, and it was about 1 1/2 hours from my house, so I spent the night at my mom and dad's house. Saturday, I got up early and went garage sale-ing. I was disappointed at the first few, as the baby gear wasn't in very good shape (I did find a highchair to keep at my mom's house), so I headed to a garage sale hosted by a "Parents of Multiples" club. WOW! There was a line out the door of the church, so I parked and got into line as fast as I could. When I got in, I bee-lined towards the furniture, and there it was - a solid oak crib and dresser. So I went ahead and bought it. My mom and dad came over to the church and loaded the furniture into my pickup.
I was worried if Steve would like it or not, but he loved it! The only bad part was that the crib fit through the front door, but not through the door of the nursery. So my patient husband disassembled the whole thing and reassembled it in the nursery. Mom got a little upset that I helped Steve move the furniture in, but we didn't have a choice. It was going to rain, and we did NOT want that furniture to get ruined. Steve bore the brunt of the weight, and I only helped guide him. Sunday we moved Steve out of his room (which will eventually be the nursery). The only thing left in the room is a desk and a table, but we are going to move them to our friends' basement this weekend.
If you are my boss - STOP READING NOW. I was so grouchy at work early this week (my boss wanted me to wear her "Grumpy" dwarf sweatshirt). I think it is a combination of being very tired (I am still waking up at least 2 times per night to go to the bathroom) and just not wanting to work. Ever since I gave my "official" notice, I have had NO motivation at work. Actually, I have been spending most of my time at work on the internet. I probably have read WAY too many birth stories, but oh well. I do feel pretty informed (but not quite ready for birth yet!).
Steve and I paid off my car this week - YAY! We are finally on our way to reducing our debt. We now have paid for all of our vehicles (2 trucks and 1 car) and it is such a great feeling. I think we are pretty blessed to own our home and vehicles at such a young age (now, if we could just do something about the credit card debt . . .). We are going to save most of my income from now on so that Steve can take 3 weeks off from work when the baby is born. We are going to do a few home improvements, but we want to save the majority of my income.
Monday, I had Chick-Fil-A for lunch (real healthy, I know) and I chose to drink lemonade, rather than a caffeinated pop. Well, I think Chick-Fil-A loads their lemonade with sugar, because I the baby was doing water aerobics all afternoon! My friends at work could actually see my belly move. I don't even want to know how the baby will react to the glucose test this week!
Well, I'm off to register the baby for gymnastics class (since it obviously is VERY good at somersaults)!
