~ Orange Crush
Would anyone care for some highly concentrated orange drink (a.k.a. Glucose Tolerance Beverage)?
I had my first (and hopefully last - until the next baby!) taste of this glorious beverage last Wednesday. My boss told me that it made her throw up, but I was hoping for the best. I drank it ice cold, and it really wasn't too bad. It pretty much tasted like flat McDonald's orange drink - but VERY concentrated. Before our checkup at the midwives' office, I made Steve stop at Taco Bell for my "protein snack" that the midwife recommended I have for after the test - beans have lots of protein, right?
The test turned out to be totally normal, and so was the checkup at the midwives' office. The baby's heart rate was 152 bpm, my blood pressure was good, and my weight gain is only 10 pounds TOTAL! I am now back to my pre-pregnancy weight (I lost about 10 pounds in the first trimester, due to the lovely morning sickness I had). I have a checkup in 3 weeks, and then I start going every 2 weeks!
We moved to a new house over the weekend. Well, ok, we didn't actually move, but we painted the whole inside, so it feels like a different house. I FINALLY made up my mind on the color for the nursery - drum roll please - and I picked blue! The color is called "Cornice Blue" and it is very blue in the morning light, but it is almost lavender in the evening light. It turned out beautiful, and I am so happy with it. Now I just have to stamp the safari theme on the walls and make curtains, and the nursery will be nearly finished! I keep glancing in there, and it just does not seem real that in only a few short months there will be a baby in the room. Blue (our black lab mix) loves to sleep under the crib.
Work is dragging by this week - it feels like I am working 12-hour days, when it's really only 8 short hours. But by the time I get home, I am beat! Last night I was planting some tree seedlings while Steve was on his evening run. Steve got back from his run and went inside and accidentally locked me out of the house. So I stood on the back porch and beat on the door, and he didn't answer! So I stormed around to the front, and there he was, sitting on the front porch. I was mad (surprise, surprise) and Steve asked me to calm down. So I replied, "I'm tired, I'm hungry, I'm pregnant, and I just want to go inside!" So my wonderful husband started laughing (ATTENTION HUSBANDS - Do NOT laugh at your pregnant wife - EVER!), opened the front door and I stormed inside. After I calmed down (and got some food in my stomach) I apologized, but I made Steve promise he wouldn't laugh at me again.
Happy Mother's Day (and Happy Birthday - on the 12th - to me)!
