~ Group B Strep News
Lots of exciting (and not so exciting) things this week.
I found out on Friday that I am Group B Strep positive. The midwife left a voice mail for me, and my next checkup is this afternoon, so I haven't had a chance to ask questions. Of course, the first thing I did was search the internet - which was a big mistake, because the internet mainly tells horror stories. But from what I read (and from what people have emailed me), as long as I receive antibiotics in plenty of time before delivery, the baby will be fine. Any advice from readers who were/are GBS positive is more than welcome!
My co-workers threw me my third (yes, third!) shower on Friday, and it was a ton of fun. We had a "Mexican-themed" potluck, and there was so much good food (and GREAT chocolate cake). We received almost everything else from our registry, and a large group of people went in together and bought the Britax Roundabout infant/toddler car seat. Steve and I are so blessed to have such wonderful friends and family - the only thing we have had to purchase for the baby is the furniture for the nursery.
I have only 7 1/2 more days of work left - yippee! The days are flying by, as I am training my replacement. I called in sick yesterday (I was extremely tired), and it was my first "trial" day as a housewife. I did laundry, cleaned a little, sewed a little and slept a lot. I did have dinner on the table when Steve got home (am I a good wife, or what?), but that was because we had to leave right away for a Pampered Chef show. Steve is such a wonderful husband - my mom usually helps me with shows, but her bed & breakfast is so busy this week that Steve offered to help me. It was my last show before the baby comes, but I will have my next show at the end of September.
Please send happy thoughts my way - I have been getting irritated with everyone and everything lately! My family calls, and if we aren't there, they assume we are at the hospital. My co-workers tell me how small I am and keep asking for effacement/dilation updates. I wake up at least every hour during the night to pee. I accidentally left a candle in the car and it melted all over Steve's camping equipment. Etc, etc, etc! For some reason (maybe the 100 degree heat?), all these things irritate me. I hope everyone understands - and I know that in the end, I will have a sweet little baby as a reward. I really love being pregnant; I just don't know why we chose August!
Can't wait for this baby!
