~ Meet Heather
Hello everyone! My name is Heather, and I am 26 years old. My husband, Steve, is 28. We are expecting our second child on (or sometime near!) May 18, 2004. I was so excited to share the pregnancy of our first child, Ethan, with the StorkNet readers. Ethan is 13 months old now, and we love being parents.
I have my bachelor's degree in Restaurant and Resort Management, and I am putting my degree to good use in managing my home! I have been a stay-at-home mom since Ethan was born. However, my mom and I are Pampered Chef consultants, and my parents own a bed and breakfast, so I help in the operation and management of their business too.
Steve is a Journeyman Electrician, and he hopes to become a Master Electrician soon. Steve wants to start his own electrical company as soon as possible. He enjoys the outdoors and loves to hunt and fish. We love to go camping together as a family.
Steve and I moved from the mountains in July. We owned a great house on 2 1/2 acres, but Steve had to commute 2 1/2 hours EACH WAY to work, and the commute was really wearing on him and on our family. So after seven long months on the market, our house finally sold and we live in a duplex in town. It has taken some getting used to (neighbors, loud music, lawn mowers, etc) but it is nice to have all the conveniences close by. Our goal is to pay off our credit card debt and then save up to buy another house in a few years.
Things seem to be different with this second pregnancy. Morning sickness hasn't hit me (YET), and for some reason, it doesn't seem real! Although I am so tired in the evenings that I have been going to bed around 7:30 or 8 p.m. We haven't been using any form of birth control since Ethan was 7 months old (I didn't get my period until then), but I didn't stop nursing Ethan until he was 1 year old - and I think I got pregnant the day after I stopped nursing!
We have chosen the same midwife practice we used with Ethan to provide pre-natal and delivery care. Unfortunately, only Ethan has health insurance right now, so we will be paying out-of-pocket. But I would do anything to go to the midwives again! I had such an incredible birth experience with Ethan, and I am hoping for the same with this baby.
I look forward to sharing the next 33 (more or less!) weeks with you!
