Week 6 (again)
~ Take Two

Ahh, another week has ended and the next one has begun. Am I the only one who wishes there was some "breathing room" in between days? And no, I'm not talking about the hours you lay awake at night, wishing you were sleeping. Lately, I've been feeling like that little iddy-biddy snow flake at the top of the mountain, then it slowly becomes bigger and bigger and bigger. By the time it hits the bottom, it's as big as a house. Time is marching on and I'm tired of walking.

We got our new boiler in and working. Praise God!! The guys were here on Wednesday (it was -15 Tuesday night!) and it was COLD IN HERE!!! By Wednesday night, 3 of our 5 zones were frozen (we have hydronic heat and with no water flowing into the pipe, it froze), but thankfully by Saturday, they had thawed fully and we have heat in every room now. I find it amazing how easily we take the little things for granted and then when we don't have them, we realize how important they are. The heating guys told us that one of the boiler pipes had been cracked for some time (two years ago we had some problems with steam and hissing coming from the boiler. It has been happening ever since). They were amazed that it held on this long. The boiler was 27 years old, which is old for a boiler, but it is a cast iron one, so they are built to last. Two years ago we were in no shape to buy a new boiler, either with savings or getting a loan. The good Lord knew that and I'm thankful for His provision.

I had my ultrasound last week and you might have noticed that it says "week 6" again. That's because they changed my due date a good seven days later. It is now August 11, 2011. It took some time to find the heartbeat (for which I was getting a bit nervous about). But find it she did and it was at a good 111 beats per minute. She said that the heart begins beating at 5 1/2 weeks, so their little heart had literally just begun to beat. Both the "sack" and baby (what she could see of Little One anyway) both measured at 5 weeks, 5 days. That makes my weeks start on Fridays, so at this writing (Sunday evening) I'm 6 weeks, 2 days along. When I phoned my mother-in-law after the appointment ~ she was watching 5 of the children (Maacah was with me) ~ she asked me, "How many are there?" There is only one that we can see. But the technician said that since Little One is so young and we could barely find the heartbeat, it is possible that there are two in there. Perhaps lying side by side or 1 heart wasn't beating yet at that time. My next appointment is for January 19, and I don't know if my doctor will want to do another ultrasound or not, seeing that Little One was so young.

I'm not sure what I did to my back, but I'm in quite a bit of pain. If I was six months, then I could blame it on the pregnancy. But being only 6 weeks, I don't have that excuse. All I know is that I am sleeping so poorly because my back hurts so bad very soon after I lay down. It doesn't get any better as the night wears on. I've tried making my own "pregnancy wedge" and it is working okay. But I still have lots of pain. I just want to wake up in the morning feeling somewhat better than I did when I laid down! I'm seriously thinking of calling my OB and seeing if she can get me a referral to a chiropractor (that way it's not out-of-pocket and our insurance will cover it, for there is no extra for ANYTHING right now). My mother-in-law sees a masseuse once a month or so, and I'm thinking of asking her how much that is to see her. Perhaps my insurance will cover that too if it's related to pregnancy and my doctor orders it? Adam is very good a rubbing my back, but I don't want to take advantage of him. We'll see.

Hope all is well with you and everyone have a wonderful CHRISTmas!
