Week 19
First of all, I apologize for not having an entry last week. I have been completely crazy at work and at home AND studying for an exam I had for the class I am taking (I did get an 'A' though, yay!). On top of all that, Rob was in New York the whole week, so I haven't had any help with Daisy. (He comes home tomorrow . . . the first thing I'm doing is getting a pregnancy massage while he watches Daisy). So, I have barely been able to keep my head above water.
Anyway, this week went really well. I cannot believe that tomorrow will start my 20th week and I will be half way through this pregnancy! I know I've said this a million times before, but I just can't get over the fact that this pregnancy is completely flying by. It's so completely the opposite of my last pregnancy. Also, I found this picture of myself at 19 weeks when I was pregnant with Daisy, and I have gained the exact same amount of weight as last time, at this point . . . well, it is shocking how round and well . . . just LARGE my face looked last time! It's not like I've gained less weight this time and that would account for my face being thinner or something. I think that old wives' tail was true for me . . . you know the one about if you don't look good during your pregnancy you're having a girl because girls "steal your beauty?" ha ha!
Also, I wanted to give an update about my headaches, which I forgot to last time. One headache got so bad that I couldn't open my eyes or turn my head. I called my doctor after the second day of this heinous pain (it was right behind my eyes and pure torture! I've never felt anything like it). She said from what I was describing it sounded like a migraine and she told me to try Tylenol. She said if that didn't work to call her back, and she would give me a prescription. Well, the Tylenol didn't work at all so I called back and she gave me a prescription for Tylenol with Codeine!! I couldn't believe it's O.K. to take such a strong drug while pregnant, but she assured me it is safe. To be honest, I really didn't want to take it. I don't even like taking Tylenol when I'm pregnant. So, I held off for a few hours until the pain was just unbearable. I then realized this could last for a few days so I'd better take the medicine. I got the prescription filled and took two right away. Well, WOW! It knocked my migraine right out, but it made me TOTALLY loopy! I felt completely drunk on that medicine. It kind of freaked me out. Okay, it really freaked me out. I just can't understand how that can't be detrimental to the baby, but I do trust my doctor implicitly, so I tried not to worry about it. I only took two and luckily that's all I needed to take care of the migraine. I just pray I don't get another one; it was so horrible. My doctor said it's very common for someone who has never had a migraine to get one while pregnant, especially in the first and second trimesters. Those darn hormones!!
I have to say that my belly is getting verrrry big. Strangers are just now noticing that I'm pregnant, and it's weird because in clothing my belly is visible, but when I'm naked, watch out! I'm huge! Sometimes I just stare in the mirror at my belly because it fascinates me how big it is getting, and I know just how big it's going to get! I really hope I don't get stretch marks; I was very lucky not to get them last time, and I hope my luck extends to this pregnancy. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!
Til' next week :)
