Week 25
~ Getting Ready

This week started off great because on Tuesday I had an OB appointment and got to hear the baby's heartbeat. It is so wonderful listening to that sound! I also had the gestational diabetes test, and am glad to say that the glucose drink was not bad at all! With my last pregnancy I had this "lemon lime" flavor . . . YIKES! It was horrible, and I could barely finish the bottle and after I was done, I seriously felt like I was going to throw up it was that bad (I was practically dry heaving . . . okay maybe not THAT bad, but it came close). This time I had the "orange" flavor and it tasted just like a flat Orange Crush. I had no problem drinking it and didn't feel sick afterwards, so that was good. For some reason, I thought I was going to fail that test. I have no idea why, as I had no problem with my last pregnancy, but I just had this nagging feeling I wouldn't pass. Luckily my gut was wrong and the nurse called on Thursday to say it came back normal, yay! One less thing to worry about. I don't think I have any more tests left, thankfully. I will have one more ultrasound toward the end of the pregnancy, but that is something to look forward to!

I asked my doctor about the soreness around my incision area and she said that is totally normal. Since it is scar tissue and it *is* being pulled, I will feel uncomfortable as I get bigger and will feel like it's being pulled (which is what I'm feeling now). She also said since I have keloid scarring from the c-section, I will feel it more than others with previous c-sections. She mentioned that she would "clean it up" when she does the c-section this time. I got the impression that she thought my previous doctor didn't take much care in performing the incision, and that's probably true, as it was an emergency situation, and she probably didn't have the time to make it "pretty" you know? I'm just glad that my current doctor can maybe take care of it (I didn't ask what she meant by "cleaning it up" because I knew it would make me queasy . . . I'm SUCH a wimp, the less I know, the better, ha ha!!).

I also spoke to her regarding moving my surgery date up and she reassured me that Nicholas is measuring a full week early. Apparently he was measuring a week ahead at my first two ultrasounds (the ones I had at my previous doctor's office) but they never told me that. She said since he measured big early on, and is still measuring big, that is a clear indicator that I most likely ovulated earlier than I thought. She said we will pin down a date very soon (anywhere between Dec. 18-23) and then I'll need to pre-register at the hospital.

So, all in all it was a good appointment, and now I go in in three weeks, and then after that, I start going every two weeks!! I can't believe it!!

Other than that, some friends of mine are hosting a shower for me, so I have started thinking about what date I'd like to do it, and figure somewhere in early November might be good; I don't want to do it near the holidays, so I'm thinking November 11th. I've decided not to register this time, as I have pretty much everything I could ever need, having Daisy so recently. I do need boy's clothes, though, so hopefully I'll get some of those (although my sister-in-law, who has two older boys told me she has tons of bags of clothes for me, so I have a feeling I will be bombarded after I'm through!!).

We also bought Daisy her "big girl bed" this weekend and have started putting together the nursery. I'm SO excited! It's looking really good now, and my friend's husband said he will be able to paint it with the Moon, Stars & Cloud theme I want. I can't wait until it's all done. I think it will look awesome. We already have the crib set up, and I've decided to keep the Winnie the Pooh crib set because Daisy slept in it so infrequently, it looks new, and I really don't think I need to buy a whole new crib set so soon, you know? We have a dresser, and changing table and all we really need is a new rocking chair (I have one, but it's really old and I need a bigger one), and we're all set.

See ya next week :)
