Whew, what a busy week!
My parents got here on Friday and we had a great weekend. As usual, the time went by too fast! I wish that we lived a little closer, so we could spend more time with them, and I know those feelings will only get stronger once the baby is here. I am just grateful that we get to see them as much as we do.
My mom and I did a lot of shopping for maternity clothes. I got several pairs of pants and a lot of really cute shirts. I think I am set for a little while. It was good timing on the clothes, however, because the belly really popped out this week! I look honest-to-goodness pregnant now, especially in the evening. My parents were so cute with my belly, hugging it when they got here, and saying goodbye to it when they left. They are so excited, it is really fun to see that. We've all been waiting a long time for this.
We also got some parenting books. Several of my mom-friends have told me to read those books now, because when the baby is screaming, it's too late! So far, I have "The Baby Whisperer", the "Ferber Method", and "The Sleep Lady" - notice they all seem to focus on getting Baby to sleep! Any other suggestions?
On Tuesday, my in-laws came for dinner. My mother-in-law is equally excited and brought a knitted hat and booties that are just too cute! She was really impressed with "The Bump." My grandmother saw my stomach as we sat down to dinner and said, "Whoa."
That actually seems the collective response on my growing belly. Most people are surprised when they find out that I am only four months along. I get a lot of the "whoa" and "huge" comments. I try not to let it bother me too much, as I know the baby is measuring correctly and my doctor doesn't seem concerned. And it does seem that the growth is contained to my abdomen (well, and a little on my thighs). I have gained five pounds so far, which seems to be in line with what I am reading is okay. Unless my doctor mentions it, I am going to try and not worry about it. A healthy baby is my only goal.
I cannot believe that I will be sixteen weeks on Sunday. Equally exciting is that our anatomy scan is just two weeks away. I am so excited to find out what flavor this baby is!
I hope you are having a wonderful week!
