Week 22 ~ May 1, 2008
~ The Gift of Wood
This has been a busy week! I am in sales and my boss comes to work with me on a bi-monthly basis. Once she is here and in the car with me, the days aren't usually that bad, but getting ready for her is very stressful. I also had some dinner events and some traveling to do, all of which has combined to pretty much exhaust me.
Luckily, I am looking forward to a long weekend. My husband and I are traveling about five hours away to his cousin's college graduation. Although it means more nights in an uncomfortable hotel bed, which I am not looking forward to, it also has the added bonus of spending a lot of time with my husband. Since this also happens to be the weekend of our fifth wedding anniversary, it will be nice to have the time together.
I can't believe that it has been five years since we were married. Time seems as if it has flown by. I try to keep that in mind when I start complaining about how slowly this pregnancy seems to be progressing. I know that I will look back on these days and wonder how they went by so quickly. I am so glad that I married my husband I am so looking forward to sharing the joys and challenges of parenthood. I know it won't always be easy, but we've already traveled some bumpy roads together and have come out stronger on the other side.
It was difficult for me to purchase a gift for my husband that might have some meaning without spending a lot of money as we are really trying to save right now. I looked up the traditional wedding gift for the fifth year and it is wood. This discovery didn't really help much. I finally decided to buy a wooden picture frame with three spaces for pictures in it. In the first spot, I put a picture of us that was taken right after we started dating. In the second spot, I put a picture of us from our last trip to Mexico. For the third spot, I put one of our 3-D ultrasound pictures. I am going to put a note in with it that says "Our Past, Present, and Future." I also bought him a t-shirt and the baby a matching onesie from the university where we met. I hope that he will like the gifts, even if they are simple.
So, I am off to a long (and hopefully somewhat relaxing) weekend! I hope you are as well!
