More on my Egg Donor Procedure
I have got little bits and pieces of information for you on my Egg Donor Procedure. This Thursday marks four weeks on Lupron. I have mentioned that this drug has some very nasty side effects. Some people are more sensitive to it than others. I seem to be very sensitive to its side effects. It is worth it, however, for the chance to be pregnant.
Today I had my consultation with Dr. Colver. We agreed that we would transfer four embryos into my fallopian tubes. Dr. Colver said the chance of quads would be about one percent, and the chance of triplets about five percent. So I still have a ninety-four percent chance of having a singleton or twins, if I do become pregnant. The pregnancy rate is slightly higher if I transfer four embryos into my tubes. Plus, the chance of twins is higher as well. And as I have said, I would really like twins.
It looks at this point as if this Friday will be the day I start dramatically increasing my meds, to get in lockstep with the donor, who may be starting her fertility drugs. I will be on a increasing program to build my uterine lining, as the donor takes her fertility drugs to stimulate her ovaries to produce multiple eggs. It looks like February 3, 4 or 5 will be the day that I might have my surgery. We will not know for sure until about two days beforehand. The happy part about this is that February 3 is my birthday! I am hoping for a birthday surgery. Won't that be a great story to tell my child (children)?
Well, wish me luck!!
