~ We Have a Heartbeat!
This week I had my Ob/Gyn appointment and finally got to hear the baby's heartbeat. Aaron wasn't with me (he had to work) and I was a little apprehensive after what happened last pregnancy (this is how we found out we had lost the last one). But the heartbeat was there. It was really hard to hear because my placenta is at the front and so mostly we could hear my blood pumping, but there in the background was the quicker whoosh-whoosh-whoosh of the baby's. We are now officially past the point where we lost the last pregnancy, but we won't feel relaxed until we get the IPS results. Both of us still worry that the little one may have chromosomal problems like the last (we know the odds are slim, but it doesn't stop us worrying). I go for my second blood test next Friday, and should get the results about 10 days after that. Keep your fingers crossed.
Other than hearing the heartbeat, the appointment was pretty quick. I have only gained three pounds so far (which I am happy about, but the doctor says I really need to work at a pound a week from now on). Gaining weight is really hard for me. I have battled anorexia since I was a teenager, and even when I was doing well, I was still anxious about my weight. It's just so hard to watch those numbers on the scale getting bigger and bigger. Especially since I started this pregnancy 10 pounds higher than my usual weight because of the weight I gained last pregnancy. At least this hypoglycemic diet should make the weight easier to lose in the end because I am eating all good food and no junk!
School is almost over for me. I have one essay left to write (I have my notes all ready, I just have to actually write it), and then exams start next Friday. I can't wait for it to be over, even though I've enjoyed it. On the other hand, once it's over I need to start thinking about the real world again - you know, like getting a job. I guess I should go apply to some temp agencies this month. Maybe next week, after this last essay is done. Maybe I can finally squeeze in a haircut and some Christmas shopping too!
Anyway, that's all for this week. Until next week,
