Week 19
~ Merry Christmas & Happy Stretch Marks to You

This past week was Christmas and we managed to get everything done in time, and everyone managed to stay healthy for the big day. We stayed over at Aaron's grandparents' house (around the corner from us) and visited with his family. Ella had a great time and got spoiled with gifts. And we ate a ton of food. I swear, I'm hungry all the time, and I'm actually able to eat a fair amount at a time now, so I am NOT looking forward to Friday's weigh-in.

There's not much news on the pregnancy front this week, aside from the fact that when I went for my shower yesterday morning I discovered my first stretch marks. Ugh. I was lucky enough to get through Ella's pregnancy without any stretch marks, but obviously I'm not going to be so lucky this time. I'm still putting on my moisturizer 2-3 times a day, but my skin just constantly feels tight and pulling. In fact, this morning I laid awake from 3am to 5am because my ribs were aching - it just felt like my belly was pushing them up and out. I don't know if it was that the babies had changed position or whether it was just a result of last night's giant dinner, but it was not comfortable.

My energy levels have been a lot better lately, and I credit it to my new prenatal vitamins. I was just buying some cheap ones, but they were too big (they were the same size as all the over-the-counter ones I could find) and I kept choking and dry-heaving every time I took one. So I stopped for a few weeks. Finally, at my OB appointment I asked about alternatives and they gave me a prescription. Wow. I just have so much energy, I wish I'd asked weeks ago.

The babies are still kicking away, and getting stronger every day. Aaron was actually able to feel a few kicks this week. And already they're getting uncomfortable from time to time as they kick my internal organs. Also, their rolls are enough to make me queasy - I'm interested to see what positions they're in at my ultrasound on Friday. Hopefully by then the smaller twin will have caught up to his brother and all will be looking well again. Wish me luck.

I think I'll sign off now for this week. My parents are in town until this afternoon, and then we have the rest of the week booked with visits from friends (and my doctor's appointment). We're also supposed to be finishing the kitchen and emptying the junk out of the twins' room, plus I promised to make a cake for my friend's daughter's birthday party - I'm not exactly sure when we'll find time for all of this, but hopefully we can squeeze it all in.

Well, wish me luck for my ultrasound, I'll let you know how it goes next week. Until then, hope you all have a Happy New Year!
