Week 29
~ 2 Heavy Babies + 1 Clingy Toddler = 1 Sore Back

It has been another mixed week here, as far as the pregnancy goes. My back has been so sore - the weight of the babies is just killing me! It feels as if my ribs are being stretched from the inside out (which, I guess, they are). I've also been getting a lot of pain across the front of my abdomen - not contractions, but more like pulled muscles from the babies stretching my belly all to heck. It makes it really hard to walk and climb stairs, so I spend most of my time just sitting or lying around, watching Ella play.

Aaron has been so good, though. On Saturday he took Ella so I could go to the Multiples Sale (where I picked up a bunch of summer clothes for Ella, and a pair of Robeez each for the boys - we actually don't need much for them right now, maybe by the next sale). On Sunday he took her again and let me have the house to myself for a few hours, and I split my time between doing some small nesting chores and resting. Then we all went swimming, and the water felt great on my belly - although it's a hassle to get there and back, so I don't know how often we'll do it. Aaron's also been great about helping out with chores, and he's even been getting up to Ella overnight when she disturbs. I can't explain how thankful I am for this - my sleep is just so disrupted because of the pregnancy, and it takes me so long to get back to sleep, that his help is a lifesaver! I'm lucky to have such a great husband.

I also have an update from my ultrasound/OB appointment to share. The boys are 3lbs, 3oz and 3 lbs, 2 oz - that's large even for single babies, let alone twins! The doctor told me that I wouldn't go 40 weeks, and that they wouldn't end up as big as Ella (7lbs, 12oz), although I'm not sure if that was a prediction or a guarantee. I was right in my guess that Baby B was breech again, but he was back higher than Baby A, and the doctor said that with my history most doctors would let me try for a vaginal delivery so long as the lowest baby is vertex. Yay! It doesn't matter so much at the moment, though, because Baby B flipped back head down Friday night, and while he and his brother keep switching places, that doesn't matter so long as they both stay head down!

I just can't believe that I already have more than 6 pounds of baby in me. That's more than a lot of people (including my mother and several close friends) have when their babies are born! And I still have about 8 weeks to go (I'm counting to 37 weeks, which is when I'll likely start begging to be induced). Madness. At the pool people kept asking when I was due, and making jokes about me delivering right there and then. Weren't they surprised to hear I still had two and a half months left until my due date! I'm going to be so huge. I don't know how I'm going to manage to move around. I can still pick up Ella, for now, but I can't hold her for very long, which has been causing a few tantrums, but there's nothing I can do about it. Oh well. I hope time flies until I can deliver these babies (but I don't want them to come before 35 weeks).

Well, I think that is about it for this week. Until next week,
Kaye
