It's Sunday night and we are finishing up a really fun and busy week. On Thursday we had family come to town. My mom, dad, and little brother came from California. It was wonderful to have them with us. I miss them so much. Moving away from them a couple of years ago is one of the hardest things I have ever had to do. It was fun to see them so surprised that I was showing.
I made a doctor's appointment for Friday so that my mom could go and hear the baby's heart beat. So Friday morning she and my father (he didn't want to be left out) went to the doctor's office. They got to meet my midwife and hear their grandson's heart beat. My parents had only heard one other heart beat before; they heard my youngest brother Joshua's. I remember getting to hear his heart beat, I was almost 10 when he was born. So it was fun to share this with them.
I am discovering having them that far away and only seeing them a few times a year that we have to make the most of the times we are together. We have also had to get creative in keeping them in touch with their grandkids. They talk to them every Sunday night. Every so often we will take a funny picture and send it by email to my parents at home. So if someone gets a black eye or loses a tooth we can take a picture and send it by email. My kids also know they can call their grandparents anytime they like to.
We have tried to make the best of the situation, but I miss them terribly and wish we could be closer.
