Well it is Sunday, this is usually the day I write in my journal and send it off. Today is a special day. Today is my anniversary. My husband and I have now been married for 13 years. We went away together this weekend and we had a wonderful time.
Yet getting out the door to spend that time together was a challenge! When we were getting ready to leave on Friday afternoon my youngest daughter, Sydney, just seemed so tired. I kept telling Monte she needed a nap. So I fed her lunch and in the middle of lunch she threw up. I just started to cry. I was looking so forward to our weekend away, just the two of us, and here the little one is sick. I know a lot of the tears are hormonal but I was upset. I guess it is just one of the challenges of a big family. Even when we schedule time to be just the two of us, something can always come up.
We called the hotel and asked if we could cancel our reservations but since we were not giving a 24 hour notice they were charging us for the room anyway. Well we kept an eye on Sydney all day and she didn't throw up again but it was obvious she wasn't feeling well. We decided to make the best of it and Sydney could just come to the hotel with us. She was tired and not much trouble when all she wanted to do was sleep. It was our chance to get away so we were taking her with us.
We went to drop off the other kids at a friend's house we had arranged with and she wouldn't hear of it. She said this was our last chance to get away before the baby came and we were not giving it up. She took Sydney sick and all. I felt so guilty leaving her but at the same time felt so grateful to have a friend who understood my needs and was willing to help me. Sydney never threw up again and was playing with everyone else within a few hours so all went well.
Monte and I got away for a while and spent some time together. It was wonderful and rejuvenating for a soon to be mom! It is wonderful to have been married to Monte for 13 years and still be excited to spend time alone with him. I pray it is always that way! Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas!!!
