Hello readers! Happy Springtime, thank goodness it is here!
At the first of March, I had my second annual Girls Weekend in Asheville, NC. It was the first time for me to be away from my littlest angel and only the second or third time I have ever been apart from Sophie girl. They did fine, I did fine and it was a much needed wonderful time.
My best friend of over twenty years, Lorie, came and picked me up on Friday afternoon and with everyone else working and getting there a little later, we had a nice evening of QT and it was just what the doctor ordered for both of us. We made dinner at the cabin, drank some wine and even hopped in the hot tub for a little while. We had such a great time just being together. I knew how special she was when I was thirteen years old, and she gets sweeter and better with age and wisdom. I am so lucky to have someone like her in my life who loves me just how I am, even though she has seen the worst of me. I miss her so much and hope that someday we can live close again.

We woke up and went for a great hike, taking pictures and just being gross and talking about everything under the sun. I was could not have chosen four greater girls to spend a nice relaxing weekend with. It was so good just being with them.
Then came the eating. Oh my goodness, here are a couple shameless plugs for restaurants in the Asheville downtown area. For lunch, we ate at Tupelo Honey, and the ahi tuna steak was A-MAH-ZING!! I have had dreams about it since, I won't lie. Everyone was overwhelmed by how delicious it was and we will all go back next time we are there. For dinner, we tried something new and went to a vegetarian restaurant called The Laughing Seed. Also, delicious and feel good food, I had something there called Zucchini Manicotti. YUMMM!! I have tried to find a way to recreate it, but I will just have to wing it or go back there. Also found out that there is a Tupelo Honey coming to downtown Knoxville and I am totally excited, since we are only an hour from there. Yay!!
Then we went out to see a band that night at a local dive and had some adult beverages and good ole fun. I think one of the best parts of the weekend was getting up at 9am when we had an 11 o'clock checkout and calling the front to see what we needed to do before leaving. Absolutely nothing! Wow, I needed that Willow Winds Cabins of Asheville! Thanks for another amazing girl's weekend. We will be back!
