~ Meet Kristen
My name is Kristen, and I am a 31 year old newlywed. I was married to the love of my life, 36 year old Kyle in May of last year. We have two furry children, our pound puppies, Max and Vince, whom we spoil rotten.
I work in customer service for a flooring company and Kyle also works in the flooring industry. We actually met in my hometown when we were working for competitors. We had some struggles at the first of our relationship and had both been through a lot to find each other, but it was all worth the happiness and love that we have now. He is the best person I have ever met and I cannot wait to have his children.
We are currently living in a small town in Georgia, as Kyle's work moved us here in 2007. We love the house that we live in and each other, but living in Georgia with our families in other states is not easy for us. It has taught us to rely completely on each other, which has been great for our new marriage. Since we are far away from not only our families, but most of our closest friends as well, we spend a lot of time burning up the roads visiting people.
We love to camp and will get ready for our first popup camping trip in May with some of our closest friends, their kids, and all of our dogs. We love to hike, bike and walk. Kyle is a triathlete and runner and I love to paint and read books. We love being together and hate it anytime a business trip overseas keeps us apart.
With all the happiness we already had in our lives, we decided in September 2008 that we were ready to start a family and bring ourselves even more happiness. We were unsuccessful for about two months (I know I am impatient) and in November, I decided that maybe I needed to get in better shape to get ready for having a baby. We both began running and on December 6, a week before my 31st birthday, I completed my first 5K! I was really happy with myself! Kyle did the 5K with me and was there waiting for me when I huffed and puffed my way to the finish.
Around the time that we decided we would stop trying so hard to get pregnant, we also decided maybe we should wait until after our one year anniversary in May to get serious again about our baby making plan. And that, of course is when I started feeling really bad on Christmas morning with his family. I had to lay down several times that day and then it just seemed to go away. We passed it off as a bug of some sort that weekend, and when we went out to eat and I thought I had some light spotting, so assumed no baby this month either. I was disappointed, but we were going to start trying again in May, so I kind of just put it in the back of my mind for the moment.
Tuesday of the following week came and still nothing, so we decided maybe we would just get a test on the way home from work. I took it in the morning before work on the day before New Year's Eve and there was a very faint pink line. I had promised my cousin, Erin, she would be the first to know, so I got out my cell phone to send a picture to her for confirmation that it was in fact positive. She didn't check her phone so I called her at home and told her to check. She said to me when she saw the picture, "that means YES!!" Of course we let all of our family know as soon as it was confirmed. What an exciting year 2009 was going to be for us, even if we weren't planning for it that soon!
Our due date is September 6 and I am currently 16 weeks pregnant. I had no morning sickness, just mild queasiness, so I have been very lucky in my pregnancy so far. I will be happy to take you through the rest of our pregnancy with us step by step from here on out.
