Week 12
~ Second Appointment

I had my second appointment with my new doctor today, and I think I've chosen very well! He's very laid back and isn't overly worried about the little things. I was concerned about my protein intake because I can't eat meat. I mean that literally. I simply cannot do it. The very thought of it makes my stomach roll. I can barely pick it up at the store and put it in the cart, I can't cook it, and there is no way I'm eating it. He told me to eat what I want and can keep down, not to worry about it, and I'll catch up when the whole sickness issue is over. I asked him about peanut butter, since so many doctors are claiming that eating peanut butter during pregnancy can actually increase the odds of your child having a peanut allergy. He said there's no proof of that, and if I want peanut butter, eat it! I would point out that I practically lived on peanut butter with both my boys and neither of them has a peanut allergy! I also asked him about coloring my hair, since my roots are hideous! He said there is no problem with that either. I'm more than a little excited! My best friend is also my stylist, and I was texting for an appointment as we were on our way out of the doctor's office. Lol. I have my priorities straight!

So overall it was a good appointment. We heard the heartbeat for the first time, and it was 160-165. My mother was very excited because high means girl, right? Lol. I told her not to get too excited yet. One of my coworkers is also pregnant - with a boy. At her first two appointments, his heartbeat was in the 160s and 170s. I know there's all sorts of things out there to predict gender, but I'm really trying not to think about it too much. I really want a girl, but in my heart of hearts, I think I'm probably having a boy. And I'll be perfectly fine with that.

On the home front, things are good. T's ears are better, and he now has a cold, which he so kindly passed along to me. G seems to finally be over all his sickness, knock on wood, but I'm not holding my breath! Every time I think we are truly recovered, something else comes along and knocks someone back down. We are counting down to the end of semester, T's birthday, and Christmas break. It's going to be a busy weekend and start to next week. This time next week, however, we will officially be on a two week break. Believe me, I can't wait! My exams are written, though still waiting to be copied. Maybe I'll get that done after school today. Or maybe not. I have til Monday to get it done.

Til next week!
