Week 14
~ So Much for Plans!

I hope everyone had a great holiday! I know that we did, and I know I'm glad it's over! The hard part now is trying to figure out where to put everything. We didn't get the playroom purged before Christmas. With my husband on second shift for three weeks, me sick half the time, and the boys sick the rest of the time, it just didn't get done. So we have piles of presents sitting everywhere in our living room and dining room. I think I'm going to at least shift the piles to their bedroom. At least then they are out of sight, and it's not like they spend much time back there anyway. My parents are divorced, so the kids have 3 sets of grandparents buying for them. They get soooooooo much, and while it's nice that the grandparents like to spoil them, it does make the days after Christmas a bit stressful for mom! I can't imagine what it's going to be like when we add a third child to the mix.

The plans I had for break haven't exactly worked out. We hit a deer a few weeks ago, and the body shop called for my car on Monday. The damage hadn't kept me from driving it, but I was anxious to get it fixed. So my car has been in the shop all week. We don't have a shortage of vehicles around here, but we do have a shortage of vehicles that I would drive on the interstate or for any great distance! Ken did get the brakes and rotors changed on my Trailblazer last night, so while it's now safe, it's still a gas guzzler. Indy is only about two hours from us, but I still don't really want to drive it that far. I have to admit, however, with the new baby, I'm glad we kept it rather than trading it in. My car will fit five, but not very comfortably, so when we all go somewhere together, we will need it. Back to my plans - needless to say it's been a rather boring week at home rather than the fun week I had planned. I will make it up to them, however. We have a 3 day weekend early in January, so I'll probably try to take them to Indy then. My cousin has a 5 month old, and the boys love to spend time with her. It's good practice for them.

On the pregnancy front, things are still going well. I'm still very hungry, but it's not quite as bad as it was. I've also started exercising again, which is so nice. I always feel so much better when I'm working out. I am noticing, however, that my hips are very sore. I'm not running yet, just my elliptical and walking, but my hips are as sore as if I were running. It has me a little worried, not because I think that anything is wrong, but because I really want to be running again, and I'm not sure I'm going to be able to. I really enjoy it, and it's a huge stress reliever for me. I'm going to give it another week before I try it, and I'll just see how it goes. At the very least I know I can do my elliptical and walk for the duration. It's better than nothing.

My only other pregnancy symptom right now is very sore breasts. Still. If I remember correctly, with my other two pregnancies, this disappeared with the nausea and sickness. Does this mean girl???? Lol. I look at every difference as the possibility that it's a girl this time. I conveniently forget that there were several differences between my first two, and they were both boys. Only six weeks til we find out! I haven't done anything as far as the baby goes. I haven't bought anything, and I haven't planned anything. I'm not doing anything until I know, because if it's a girl, I'm going all out girlie! I did look at a Babies-r-Us catalog yesterday. Wow. It's been seven years, and I can't believe how expensive everything has gotten. I bet this baby gets by with a lot less than the other two had! I've had two people offer to throw me showers, and while I don't necessarily believe in showers after the first baby, since it's been such a long time, I think it's ok.

On a rather humorous note, I ran into a friend I used to run with some at Walmart yesterday. (Where else do you go to see people???) I hadn't seen him in a really long time, and the first thing we always talk about it what running we are doing. I filled him in on why I wasn't, and he informed me that their little "surprise" arrived in October! That made me smile. I'm so glad to know we aren't the only ones! Lol. I know it happens all the time, but it's nice to know that it happened to someone I actually know. I told him it still wasn't really "real" to me yet, that I couldn't really get my mind around it. He said it took them nine months! Made my day!

Until next week,
~ Kristen
