~ Break Time!

I can't tell you how relieved I am to have a break! I am technically on winter 'break' from school, although we still have assignments to complete but we don't have to actually go into campus. This is good enough for me though. I plan on enjoying this down time to the fullest! January is going to be a crazy busy month in regards to school work. We were blessed with a huge snowstorm a couple of weeks ago and the weekend it occurred was the weekend I was scheduled for clinicals. They were canceled and now are rescheduled for January. The good thing is I had a nice week of low assignment load since I had done all my work before clinicals in anticipation of having to write the huge post-clinical write-up following clinicals. Since clinicals were canceled there was no write-up to be done and the week was fairly easy. The bad news is I'll have to make up this clinical session and eventually do the post-clinical write-up in the mist of everything else scheduled in January. However, for the time being I'm not going to think about that.

Tonight is Ethan's first band concert. I'm so excited to see him play his tuba! I know he is very nervous, but I think they will all do great. My mom is supposed to watch the concert as well however we are expecting more snow tonight and I'm not sure she'll make it in time from work with rush hour snowy traffic. I wanted to get him something for after the concert, but I'm not sure he would like flowers, ha! I'll have to think about it today.

We are hosting Christmas Eve. We hosted last year as well so I am feeling more relaxed about it this time around. I have a lot of cleaning to do before Friday as well as shopping for the dinner items needed. I am making my special tacos, Spanish rice, and guacamole while others are bringing appetizers and drinks. This past weekend I spent all of Saturday with my sister-in-law, mother-in-law, nieces, and my daughter baking cookies. We made over 1,000 cookies consisting of eight different kinds, num num! We serve them on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day as well as give them to friends and neighbors as gifts. On Christmas Day we go to my in-laws and this year my sister-in-law is serving a feast of curry mussels, teriyaki chicken wings, scallops, duck, egg rolls, and a couple Chinese noodle dishes. I love that our Christmas menus are fairly untraditional and my children are served such diverse offerings.

Thursday is also my birthday and Connors has the day off from work which makes me very happy. As of right now we don't have any plans, but that's not a bad thing either. The excitement level is very high here and the kids continually count down to my birthday, then Christmas Eve, and then Christmas Day. Hopefully it'll be all they hope for!

I'm still feeling cruddy most every day. I'm hoping that I'll feel better by the New Year. I'm 12 weeks right now and will be 14 weeks at the New Year. I don't remember when I began to feel better when I was pregnant with Anna. This pregnancy is so similar to hers that we are thinking this baby must be a girl. The boys' pregnancies were low-key in regards to sickness. We had our 12 week ultrasound last week and so far baby looks healthy and happy.

I hope your holiday season is merry and bright! Many blessings!
