~ 1 Down . . . 6 to Go!
Another week closer to seeing my little man! This week has been fairly uneventful. Brandon was out of town on a 'guys trip' to his parents' condo at the beach. They left on Friday night and got back Sunday afternoon. It was kind of poor planning on our parts because when we had discussed him going on a guys' trip with his friends back in December, we did not realize that the weekend we picked was Mother's Day weekend. Oh well. I was fine with it and only one other guy that went has a child, well they all have mothers but you know what I mean. I did have a nice Mother's Day though. When Brandon got back in town, he brought me flowers, and we had a nice dinner out with his mom that night.
I had a doctor appointment on Tuesday, the 10th. I had a nice little surprise when Brandon showed up to it as well. When I was pregnant with Kaydon, he went to every appointment with me but at the time our boss (when we worked at the same company) was very understanding and let him off work for my appointments. This time around, he is working for a different company and his schedule is not as flexible to be able to go with me every time. I also had another little surprise when I showed up and they said they would be testing me for Group B Strep at that appointment. I was not really expecting that yet, but what could I do at that point. I do not have the results yet, so hopefully I will get a call later this coming week. Colton is still head down, which I figured since I can feel his little butt poking out sometimes. The doctor also said that his head is getting pretty low down which probably explains the sharp pains I have been having in what feels like my cervix. But I will gladly take them because it means I am just that much closer to seeing my baby! At my next appointment, my doctor will start doing internal checks to see if I am dilated!
I also found out that I need to really up my water intake. Sunday night after we got done eating, I started feeling very jittery and dizzy when I was sitting there watching TV. My heart felt like it was going to pound right out of my chest. Luckily we were at Brandon's parents' house still and I knew his dad had a blood pressure cuff there. I took my blood pressure and it was fine so I was not too worried. I mentioned it to my doctor and he said that the heart pounding may be due to the fact that I had just gotten done eating a big meal (it was Mother's day for goodness sakes). Since the baby is pretty much taking up my whole midsection, my intestines are pushed out of the way and cannot hold as much food as usual. The dizziness and jittery feeling were from the fact that I was getting dehydrated and need to start drinking A LOT more water. I try my hardest to drink water throughout the day, but I know I could do better. So, I have been focusing on trying to drink more water and less anything else.
On Friday, the 13th, Brandon and Kaydon leave for Chicago until next Thursday, the 19th. It is kind of bittersweet to me because it will allow me to get a lot of things around the house done without having to worry about either one of them, but at the same time I am definitely not used to it being that quiet for that long and am going to miss them like crazy. I hope I can get at least half of it all done. But, I am sure I will take a day (or two) to just relax and not really do anything! Wish me luck on being productive while they are gone!
Well, that is about it for this week. I have one more doctor's appointment that is every two weeks and then I start going weekly! I hope everyone has a great week ahead!
